About PowHERhouse Money

Our mission

We Help Women Build Wealth, Confidence, and Businesses They Love

At PowHERhouse Money, our mission is to support, educate, and empower women to build lasting wealth—through guidance grounded in both expertise and real-world experience. That mission extends beyond our clients: we reinvest a portion of every dollar we earn into nonprofits that empower women and girls.

What makes us different is simple: we’re not just coaches—we’re trained financial professionals.

PowHERhouse Money was built by women who are licensed financial planners and investment advisors. While our work here is focused on education, coaching, and community, it is grounded in a deliberate commitment to the highest level of education, certifications, and professional standards—so the guidance we provide is not only empowering, but accurate, ethical, and rooted in real financial strategy.

With over 36 years of combined experience, we’ve built a multi-million-dollar, award-winning financial firm. That foundation matters. It means we don’t just talk about money—we’ve managed it, grown it, and helped others do the same.

Because we operate within a regulated financial environment, we are held to a strict code of ethics. That responsibility shapes everything we do—from the advice we give to the community we’re building.

Our goal is to create a space where women feel supported, informed, and confident—while upholding the integrity, transparency, and values that true financial leadership requires.

Our founder's story

Becoming PowHERhouse

I’ve been in the financial services industry since I was 20, and over the years, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the gaps that exist for women when it comes to money, confidence, and mindset.

I saw the same patterns again and again. Women underestimated themselves, questioned their worth, and hesitated to ask the questions they deserved answers to. That hesitation held them back from earning what they were worth, pursuing opportunities, and fully stepping into their ability to build wealth.

I also saw how often women were spoken to, rather than supported. Too many experiences were centered around selling, not empowering. Instead of being given the tools and confidence to move forward, many were left feeling uncertain about what steps to take next.

PowHERhouse was created to fill that gap. It was something we couldn’t fully address through traditional financial planning alone. Strategy matters, but mindset matters just as much. Without a healthy relationship with money, even the best financial plan can fall short of delivering the results someone truly deserves.

As I built my own financial planning business, I experienced firsthand how isolating that journey can be. There were moments where it felt like I was completely on my own, navigating challenges without the support or guidance I needed.

That experience shaped what we created next.

Our business coaching program was built to solve a problem we heard over and over again:

“I’ve gotten this far, but I don’t know how to reach the next level.”

We created a space where women don’t have to figure it out alone. A place where they can learn from real experience, gain clear strategies, and receive the support and accountability needed to grow.

Everything we teach is grounded in what we’ve lived, tested, and refined. We share what works, help women build confidence in their decisions, and give them the tools to move forward with clarity.

Because sometimes what’s needed most is someone who will challenge you, support you, and hold you accountable to what you’re capable of.

I was told many times that I wouldn’t succeed. That I wasn’t good enough or smart enough. In the beginning, I didn’t fully understand what it took to build a business, and I learned many lessons the hard way.

Those experiences reinforced something I now believe deeply: women need more support, more community, and more spaces where they feel seen and encouraged.

No one should have to build something meaningful while feeling alone.

PowHERhouse exists to change that, and to help women become powHERhouses in their own right.

Our values

We are committed to helping each and every one of our clients build a life they love. YOUR goals are OUR goals!

Communication

The only way we are able to truly help you and get the results you want is by clear and vulnerable communication. Our firm has grown and gotten through difficult times and came through the other side. Communication and ability to articulate what we need, what you want, and how you want to achieve something is one of the best pathways to success.

Trust

Trust is a non-negotiable. You need to trust us to show up and be vulnerable, AND we need to trust you that you’re going to do the work. We are all investing in each other. Trust is the foundation of ALL good relationships, and ours is no exception.

Integrity

Integrity is what we do when nobody is looking. We are committed to being a trustworthy company, and we promise to act in our client’s best interests and positively contribute to our community. We practice what we preach!

Grit

What we needed and what you will need to get through life – period. Life is hard, but you’re tougher than you think, and grit will get you through. Persevering through the tough shit allows you to THRIVE. The person who is the most successful is the grittiest, not the smartest.

Authenticity

Be who you are, your unique and beautiful self – and we will love you anyways. We want everyone to show up authentically, and we’ll never pass judgment. We don’t want you to feel like you ever need to anything else but YOU.

Perseverance

We are always committed to walking with you through your struggles and providing support, tools, and education to get what you want. We will help you shift your mindset to always see the finish line and know that every day you are working towards your overarching mission, vision, and purpose.

Security

Our ability to feel secure relieves anxiety, stress, and uneasiness. Our goal is to help our clients build a safety net so they can wake up each day knowing that they are taken care of – that they are truly and wholly secure.

Harmony

Harmony is the beautiful feeling of self-defined balance. True harmony is achieved when we successfully integrate all of our priorities. We will help our clients develop the ability to thread the needle through your company, work, personal life, self, friends, making sure that where your focus is your energy is going and feels in alignment where you want to be.

Freedom

Freedom is the ultimate goal. Everything we are doing, working for, educating you on, and building as a company is creating freedom. Want you to be able to do what you want, when you want, with who you want, and live the life that you deserve.

Meet the team

Nicholle Overkamp

Founder + CEO

I’m a business coach and wealth advisor whose work centers on empowering others to Own Their Future through confident leadership, business growth, and intentional financial strategy.

I want you to feel proud of what you create and the company you build—and confident enough to pursue those ambitions unapologetically. With desire, passion, commitment, and discipline, almost anything is figure-out-able.

Whether the focus is your personal financial strategy or growing your business to the next level, I bring both guidance and real-world experience to the table. After more than a decade building Wilcox Financial Group from the ground up, I understand the challenges and decisions that come with building something from scratch.

Like many entrepreneurs, my journey hasn’t been without challenges. I’ve experienced seasons of feeling undervalued, overwhelmed, and stuck, working long days without the momentum I expected. I’ve questioned my path, feared judgment or failure, and wondered if there had to be a better way forward.

Everything shifted when I stopped trying to follow everyone else’s blueprint and started trusting my own instincts. By building the business in a way that aligned with my values and vision, our company gained momentum and grew into the thriving organization it is today.

We knew the financial industry needed a better approach for women—one that felt supportive, approachable, and empowering rather than intimidating. With that belief, Sarah and I grew Wilcox Financial Group into a multiple six-figure firm focused on helping women create financial strategies that truly support the lives they want to build.

We understand the journey many women are on because we’ve walked it ourselves. Our mission is to empower you to own your future by providing clear strategies, thoughtful guidance, and real solutions so you can reach your goals with greater clarity and efficiency.

If you become a client, you WILL become family.

Sarah Blankenship

COO + Wealth Coach

I’m a wealth coach and the Chief Operating Officer of PowHERhouse Money Coaching. I help keep our programs, clients, and team running smoothly so we can focus on what matters most—supporting women as they build confidence and take control of their money.

Growing up in a modest household as a child of divorce taught me early on how important financial security can be. That experience shaped the way I think about money and is a big reason I’m so passionate about the work we do today.

I love our business because I know firsthand how powerful it feels to feel in control of your finances. Paying bills on time, having money in the bank, traveling well and often, and being able to give generously to the people I care about brings me so much joy. Knowing I’ve built a strong financial future for myself, and an amazing retirement ahead, feels even better.

I purchased my first home at 23, paid off my student loans by 28, and have saved over six figures. Because of the habits and strategies I’ve built over time, I feel prepared for the “what ifs” life can bring.

Our team and I are passionate about showing women that money can feel empowering, even fun, instead of overwhelming or stressful. Whether someone starts by reading our book Money Bitch, downloading one of our courses, or diving in with a discovery call, nothing makes me happier than seeing women gain the confidence they deserve around their money.

And if you’ve made money mistakes in the past or gone through a tough financial season, you’re not alone. There’s a good chance I’ve been there too—and we’re here to help you move forward.

#FUNFACTS about me:

  • I have a black belt in Taekwondo and competed at the collegiate level while I was at UB.
  • I’m an avid reader—getting lost in a great novel is one of my favorite things.
  • I love to cook and try to make as much as I can from scratch.
  • Travel is a big part of my life. Some of my recent trips include South Africa, Egypt, Iceland,  and Italy.
  • I also collect thimbles from everywhere I go—they’re small, easy to pack, and a fun way to remember each place.
  • I’m also easily persuaded when it comes to fitness challenges—I’ve been talked into doing a Hyrox, a Spartan race, and even a triathlon.
  • I love dogs (though I don’t currently have one)
  • I’m a little obsessed with French aesthetic, really good coffee, and intimate dinners with friends.

Brooke Tanner

Wealth Coach

I bring over 11 years of experience working with individuals and families on their financial journeys, with a strong background in insurance and underwriting. Through that experience, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how people think about money, the questions they have, and where they often feel stuck.

As a Wealth Coach, I support women in building confidence with their finances and creating a clear path forward. I focus on helping clients understand how to use tools like life insurance as part of a bigger picture—one that protects what matters most while also supporting long-term growth and stability.

One of the things I’m most passionate about is education. I believe that when women feel informed and supported, they make stronger, more aligned decisions. My goal is to simplify complex concepts, answer questions openly, and help clients feel empowered in every step of the process.

The most rewarding part of this work is seeing women shift from uncertainty to confidence—knowing they have a plan, understanding their options, and feeling in control of their financial future.

#FUNFACTS about me:

  • I am obsessed with sharks. My favorites are Great White and Tiger Sharks.
  • I hate socks.
  • Cozy blankets and reality TV are life in all seasons.
  • I am a big Bills and Sabres fan!
  • I have 3 kids, 17, 16 and 14 and spend alot of time traveling for sports!

Julie Smyth

Director of Marketing + Customer Relations

I bring both creative thinking and structured organization to my role as Director of Marketing and Customer Relations. From streamlining processes to ensuring our brand reflects our values, my attention to detail helps us express gratitude to clients in meaningful, personal ways. I lead the creative direction for all of our articles, newsletters, and social media.

With a BFA in Fine Arts and a background in Interior Design, I enjoy using my creativity and eye for detail to support others and contribute to the community. As a mom of two young kids and a solo small business owner, my work at PowHERhouse offers a refreshing sense of connection and purpose. While this role is outside my usual field, it feels like a natural fit; surrounded by people who are innovative, uplifting, and committed to growth.

Just know that if you are confused, don’t know the answer and aren’t sure about all things finances—you’re not alone, you’ve got me.

#FUNFACTS About Me:

  • If I could live anywhere other than Buffalo, it would be Denmark
  • I love to travel and experience new cultures, only I hate to fly and have the palate of a child.
  • As soon as the weather warms up, you’ll find me in my garden—or happily helping in anyone else’s who will let me piddle. I also find weeding strangely therapeutic.
  • An ideal weekend always involves an estate sale or the library.
  • I’d be happier camping with some good snacks than at an all inclusive resort.
  • I probably have more in common with someone’s grandma than I should at my age.

Stephanie Appenheimer

Office Manager

I joined the PowHERhouse and Wilcox team in July 2020. In my role as Office Manager, I bring a strong background in organization and operations. I earned my B.S. in Criminal Justice from Medaille College and previously worked in Higher Education.

I first met Sarah at a workshop in 2019 and immediately scheduled a financial check-up with her. I loved her concept of a Spend Plan versus a traditional budget and wanted to learn more. When it came time for my check-up, I ended up meeting with Nicholle instead (Sarah was stuck at the Post Office—her least favorite place!). After that conversation, I signed up to work with them right away. I value education and was eager to learn everything I could about money.

Starting as a client allowed me to experience our mission in action and truly understand what it means to own your financial future. I’m still on my own money journey and continue building my “Money Bitch” confidence so I can live the life I want every day.

As Office Manager, I help keep our team organized and moving forward. From managing projects to coordinating events, I love bringing our ideas to life. My favorite part of the job, though, is working directly with clients and being part of their money journey while supporting them along the way.

Fun Facts About Me:

  • I LOVE dogs! Remi is my best friend, and I am a dog mom to the cutest beagle in the world.
  • I LOVE Buffalo! Born and raised, this is my favorite place to be. I love finding new spots to shop, eat, and explore.
  • I LOVE to read! You will never catch me without a book.

Director of Marketing + Customer Relations

Nicholle brings a thoughtful, straight-talking approach that inspires action and helps audiences push past their excuses. She skillfully integrates her own life experiences, creating a relatable and empathetic connection, while energizing the entire group with a spirit of possibility and momentum. As the host of our International Women’s Day event, I received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees who felt both encouraged and motivated by Nicholle’s talk. She was responsive and intentional in our pre-planning phase and mindful of a diverse audience in the delivery of her keynote address and Q&A. We were truly honored to have her as our speaker!

I had the pleasure of hearing Nicholle Overkamp speak tonight at the ABWA Meeting. I have been to many NationalConventions over the last 12 years in my industry, and most recently heard Rachel Hollis speak. I must say Nicholle is on par if not more informational and an exceptional speaker. She is passionate, right on point and empowering. I could have listened to her much longer. She really knows her stuff.

Thank you to Nicholle Overkamp for your incredible Financial Wellness program for our staff team. The Own Your Financial Future Financial Wellness workshop for our staff was one of the most informative and engaging financial sessions I have ever attended. In a short virtual session our employees learned comprehensive financial information in an accessible way that met our employees wherever they are on their financial journey. I learned new things myself and I have been working professionally for over 20 years. The information was valuable and the presentation style was judgment free and supportive, and so for those who are afraid or nervous to talk about finances, the atmosphere helped people to feel comfortable learning and asking questions. I cannot recommend this workshop enough to employers to offer to your employees. Our staff members asked us to offer this session and the feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. We plan to make this an annual offering for our staff. Thank you again – it truly was a wonderful session.

Nicholle Overkamp spoke at my team meeting of 60 about agents and she ROCKED!!!! She takes what is usually a dry subject and engages people to make it fun and interesting. We will definitely be inviting her back!!!!

We partnered with Nicholle because we wanted to bring unique financial wellness programs to our employer groups. What’s special about Nicholle is her passion for helping others and how relatable she is. She doesn’t try to sell anything but instead compliments programs our groups may already have. Her workshops are fun, engaging and different than anything that has ever been presented before. She shares her knowledge and expertise with our members in a way that’s meaningful to them and their situation. She helps our members understand where they are financially and how to make the best decisions for their future.
